Alphason Ambri ABR1100-B Reviews: Black Wood TV Cabinet for for 50" TVs TVs

+ Good quality, nice piece of furniture.

- Screws for the door were confusing with regard to length. Fortunately we put the screws for the base side of the hinge in first so when they came through the MDF they are not noticeable but if they had been put into the door they would have spoilt the front of the door.

+ Looks good and keeps the dust and fingers off my AV equipment. Also was big enough and strong enough to support my 50" Plasma.

- The cable management holes in the back of the unit are plenty big enough for the cables but not adequate for cooling (e.g when the door on the stand is closed and my PS3 and/or Amp are on they quickly over heat).
I had to enlarge the holes myself with a jigsaw, obviously now the unit’s warranty is voided. But it has done the trick. Overall though an excellent stand and good value for money.

The no handle glass front is very kiddy proof!!

- The width of each unit section is insufficient to fit an AV amp
The reare card board is backing has insufficient cutouts ports to sensibly get all your cable connections through to the other componenets/TV.
The depth of the unit is 2 cm too small to allow amp and cables to connect easily.
exterioir finish scrathces very easily and is not robust

+ The ALPHASON ABR1100-B was easy enough to put together due to good intructions as sometimes flatbed intructions can be a nightmare.

- This is not really a bad point about the product itself but something to be aware of when purchasing. Most AV equipment are 18 inches plus in width but the ALPHASON ABR1100-B shelfs are only 17 inches wide so i had to improvise a little to fit my av equipment

+ Solid build, good quality. Black sparkle finish same as tv. Plenty of gaps to allow cables to be hidden behind items. A very neat solution if you have a few devices around your tv.

- Larger items such as an amplifier only just fits in.
Black finish chips easily, care is required.
Cables difficult to manage initially but once best fit found, can't really fault it.

+ Looks lovely, very stylish.

- Impossible to assemble, niether my partner or I could do it, we had to ask our friend who has a PhD in mechanical engineering to come round and have a go, it took him over 3 hours to assemble and he said it was one of the most difficult things he'd ever had to put together!!! Would not recommend...

+ Excellent packaging, quality materials and easy to construct. The door on the front is dampened so it opens smoothly and safely. I highly recommend this LCD stand especially if you have a black Samsung...it looks great!

- DOOR HAS A SLIGHT GAP WHEN CLOSED. ONLY SEEMS TO ATTACH TO ONE OF THE MAGNETS, WHEN SHUT.

+ You can fit several electronic item in the cabine. easlily visible. nice black shiny product. looks and seems pretty solid.

- instruction were not very clear in the print. and thery were'nt idiot proof. bottom shelf is a bit low. could do with some more shelvfes space with another level with glass. the openeing door could slide up and inward into the unit., rather thasn out unto the floor. not very goos hindges, although you have to adjust it sevral times to get it opening smoothly. it could have been bigger in order to come to some sort of level to match house hold furniture.

- transit screws in hinges have to be rmoved or thin layer of wood below hinges spits easily when screws tightened

+ Plenty of room for various items of equipment. cabinet keeps them dust free,also has a fairly small footprint.Dampened door lowering a neat feature.

- Patience required in assembly,but fairly logical if you persist.

- Too short to use under a large television! I had to make a base to increase the height by about 30 cm.

+ General build quality and finish were excellent with easy to follow construction instructions and robust packaging. Giving a stable but easy to move piece of stylish furniture, well up to the job.

- Access to the cable and TV peripherals ( DVD player, satelite receiver and home theatre amps) could be improved by making the slots longer and slightly wider. Screw and retained washer on the glass access door that marry up to the magnetic catches need to be more substantial as they come out of the screw hole and stay attached to the magnetic catch after the glass door has been lowered. (An easy fix to do but a bit of a niggle considering the price and quality of the furniture).

+ This is a very modern, stylish cabinet. I love the smooth opening and closing action of the door. I was looking for a cabinet that was enclosed to avoid dust build-up and this is just perfect! An added bonus that I had not expected is that the cabinet cuts out the whirring noise of the Sky Box. Thoroughly recommended.

+ Fantastic quality and really solid. Looks great as well. Relatively easy to put together for anyone who is used to flat pack furniture but more satisfying as it looks and feels so good when you have finished.

- Could do with more ventilation as it gets very hot inside especially when the PS3 is being used

- not really a bad point, but i can see the hinges ripping out if anyone was to lean on the door whilst its open! nothing to stop its downward movement (except hinges) when open

+ Great looking piece of kit with plenty of space inside. Keeps the items dust free, and keeps prying little hands of my expensive system. I would definately recommend this item to anybody considering a piece of furniture that fits into a room without taking it over and with plenty of room inside.

+ It's very stylish, and a great height to put the TV on. Enough space inside for all of the different boxes and games consoles. I love the little wheels underneath which make it easy to move when needed.

- It's heavy - not necessarily a bad thing, but I wouldn't have managed the package on my own.

- clear glass on the front made it look odd, so I tinted the glass and it looked a lot better! Also the inner shelves could have been a little better arranged, I was finding that simple things like dvds etc didnt fit that welll and all it would need is a slight modification to the dimentions of the inner compartments. Other than these points it is perfect.

- Could have more ventilation/ internal air circulation in order to cool audio equipment. At present I must leave the cabinet door open as a result I risk damage to the door. The holes to allow cabling through at the back could be bigger in order to assist with installation

+ Good quality build, and a well thought out construction and design. quite easy to put together, even without the well written instructions.

- Slightly difficult to move on a carpet with a moderate pile. People with seperate amplifiers etc should check ventilation periodically when the door is closed and amps etc, are in use.

+ Plenty of room for your equipment and cabling and keeps it all tidy. Good build quality.

- The drop-down door can be a nuisance if you need regular access to your equipment. Assembly takes a long time although it is not difficult.

- I'm not happy with the finish on the product. I am surprised that it doesn't have a tough varnish finish on it and as a result it scratches very easily. My 16 month old daughter has managed to scratch the top surface with a small lightweight plastic toy cup, which she just wiped across the top!

+ Smart Design which keeps eveything nice and tidy with no wires being seen.,

- Finish good have been better, a few marks and dents on surfaces.

+ Easy to assemble. Good quality materials. Looks fantastic under my black 40" LCD TV. The closed unit is great for keeping baby/toddler fingers and toys out of my AV equipment

- Lack of air flow. There should be more air-vents. My PS3 overheats and I have to leave the door open for it to cool down. The unit is also quite low; It wasn't long before my one-year-old worked out that he could climb on top of it!

- Occasional humming noise from sky box that goes when door of cabinet is open. Not too bad if box positioned away from other eqpt.
