Apple iPod Classic 160GB 6th Generation

Huge memory. I have a large (1000 plus) CD collection I expect the entire collect to take up just over half of the Ipod memory. My entire photo collection is also aboard. I use it daily walking to and from work (and I can still hear the traffic around me). At lunchtime I lower the volume and plug in for half and hours sanity. Easy to use. Sound quality good compared with average MP3 player. I like the album cover display in fact I like the display period.

If it dies you lose the lot. This means you have to keep all your music on your PC or go through the process of putting all your music back on your PC. My first Ipod died on me and I lost over 3500 tracks. Learnt my lesson and keep them on the PC now but it uses a huge slice of memory to do so. Difficult to see display in the light which is a pain when walking. A bit pricey. You have to use Itunes, lack of choice.

Fragile, Gets dirty (mainly finger prints) quickly without a skin, Hard to use in a car, the wireless connection kits are poor when in bag signal areas.

sound quality excellent,plugged into our suround sound the quality is excellent highly recomended.

when the protective case is on the ipod you have very limited docking stations available to take it,the cover weakens when having to remove it everytime.

Capacity of the hard drive, no need to manually manage your music just load the whole collection. Although bulky in comparison to the Nano it is still small enough to carry with you when travelling.

Controls can take some getting used to. Having to read the manual on line.

Design, metal casing easy to use with iTunes software. Screen very clear and controls easy to use (once you get used to the clickwheel and touch controls. Audio works well when connected to my hifi via a 3rd party docking station.

No accessories provided for the high price. Should include basics like case, docking station and mains adaptor. Apple branded accessories are much too expensive and restrictive. Cannot get video output to work on my TV. I think this is because I have not bought Apple's own AV connection cable (more expenditure, so I've given up on this!). Would be better if video output included the menu screens so it can be used via TV from the other side of the room.

Sound quality great, Touch screen with a big disc would be better

Track wheel - bit hit and miss

160GB means everything goes on in .wav format (16-bit 44.1Khz). Screen is quality for Video and Pics. Battery lasts a lot longer than 4th gen 20GB.

The latest version of iTunes is very processor hungry, and changing your video clips to suit is time consuming.

All one would want in an mp3 player. Huge memory, long lasting battery, good sound quality.

Cannot delete tunes from the player - only through iTunes. Only the track title scrolls along. The artist/album name, if more than 20 characters, are incomplete.

due to EU laws, cap on volume has been limited, this is awful as for a lot of things it isn't loud enough to hear anything, and I don't like blasting my ears out, it's just not good enough and would not purchase it again if i knew that now... i'm going back to my old 30gb model that does it's job

First MP3 I have ever owned so cannot compare to others but very easy to use, great battery life, holds all my songs and I still have over 120gb spare!!

The ipod is built well and study, however, it does mark up easily with fingerprints so I would advise on purchasing a case

Great piece of kit. Holds a good chunk of my music, so loads of variety. I've put off buying one for years but the amount of storage (and the looks) broke me eventually - couldn't be happier.....

Compared to my ipod mini the battery life is ten time s better and the memory is much better. It can be left for days or more and goes to the last song chosen as soon as you press play, rather than having to go through re-starting the computer from scratch.

Same lack of obvious features. Why can't you shuffle an individual play list????? Wheel selection a bit fiddly/sticky.

Huge battery life is great for those with lots of music & movies like me!

Awkward operating system, lack of shuffle options, lack of flexibility of loading tunes, lack of charger for direct use in normal electric socket (only USB).

Having had a 30GB "classic" previously, I was impressed by the new features and visual display

It is compact and portable and fits in your pocket.With 160gb I can include all my cds onto it without carrying them around and still have space to spare.

The volume is sopoor. I'm in my forty's so its probably my hearing! It would have been nice to have a bit more sound.

It is just an excellent product which up to yet I cannot fault but I am still learning the good things it will do with the transmitter I use it for all my music in our motorhome doing away with the need to use space carring tapes and cds
