Everything is built in to this small laptop and is so easy to carry around, It is ideal for business people on the move and also for children with the amount of games that are built into it. I got one for myself and my wife, and shown it to my parent and they purchased one and now my daughter wants one on her christmas list, Must be good to get 4 purchases so far from one family.

Small and light, very good for travelling. Excellent extra is the power lead: as is, it's a UK plug, unclip a plastic front to the plug, and it's a US plug. Excellent for web surfing, writing on the fly - the keyboard is ok once you get used to the smaller layout. 3 USB ports - keep your data on USB sticks and organise your filing system.

Keyboard double-strikes and doesn't pick up some keystrokes on fast typing. Make sure you don't rest it on your lap when working - air vents on base of unit may get covered, with overheating and increased fan speed resulting.

I havn't found any yet and I've had mine about 2 months now the only real problem is hiding it from the rest of the family !!

It's tiny. The size of a large paperback novel. Great for taking around when you dont want to lug a normal laptop. The PSU is very compact - like a mobile phone charger. Runs windows XP no problem, and runs very quietly. The in built Linux is fine, but it comes with all the drivers for XP if you want them. Finally, of course, it's very cheap for a UMPC.

The screen is a little too small vertically. The keyboard is a little unresponsive, and with the tiny keys I spent as much time going DELETE DELETE to fix the constant typos as I did hitting the right keys. Gets easier with practice though.

It is so small.Ideal for travelling.I am using it on holiday abroad not actually connected by wifi but by cable in my accomodation, to the internet and I love to listen to Radio 5.At home I use the wifi. So easy to set it up ,Got loads of games and I always fancied not using Windows.Linux gives me everything I need on holiday.Skype Gmail Hotmail and all the local and national news .I download podcasts in mp3 and wma and listen to them while playing Freecell.I bought a mini mouse to go with it and 4Gig memory.

Obviously the common moan about the battery,We get 4400,I believe a more powerful one is available elsewhere.

I would rate the 701 EEE 6/10, it's by no way a full laptop, the absent hard drive and only having 4gb SSD is a downfall, however you can use a 16GB SD card in the slot on the side to store files, the screen is really bright and sharp and plays divx great (although you do have to tweek the video settings slightly as you get tearing on the video if you dont) The speakers are very loud something of this size, the EEE is tiny and would be excellent to take on holiday with you for using it to get your email, browse the web and watching videos, the plus side would be you could back all your photos up from your memory card onto a HDD.

I would have to say the 701 EEE has two major problems, mainly the battery life, it is dire!, it lasts about 50 mins with the wifi turned on and screen brightness at mid way, you could not use this to watch a film without a power source being nearby, Asus state the battery should last 3.5 hours, however they also state you should get a 5200mAh battery, but a 4400mAh battery is supplied, the other major problem is the screen for web browsing, its too tiny and you have to scroll across on many pages, the 900 EEE has solved this problem because of the larger screen, it has a very very tight earphone socket, dont plug your ipod earphones into it because you will not get them out without breaking them (i've been through 3 sets of earphones since) it trashes the earphone socket. I would not recommend the Asus 701 EEE to anyone who likes long battery life, who doesnt like scrolling across web pages, the 900 is better but still with the poor battery life, the atom version is better still however not very good at playing back video so i hear, I'm waiting for the Dell Mini Inspiron.

Light weight, attractive, portable, excellent for travelling when weight is at a premium, looks dead cool!! Takes SD cards and memory sticks with three USB ports, wi fi connection is always good, easy to change from Linux to Windows XP (if not already running XP). Loads of online support in terms of forums which offer excellent advise from other users.

Small hard drive space means extra programs have to be stored on either an SD card or memory. Also gets quite hot as it is a solid state disk.

Size, solidly-built, good quality screen, ease of use of default linux OS, picks up wireless networks well.

If you want to run Windows (for specific Windows-only software, for example, it can be tricky to install it without an external (USB) CD or DVD drive. Inexperienced users (or those who don't relish a challenge) would be well advised to buy one of the Windows XP versions in the first place! Keyboard and screen are small, but this is the price you pay for getting an amazingly portable yet otherwise very fully-featured device (especially for the money)!

Start up time is super quick, although slightly longer if you activate the active desktop - which I have. Easy Mode does exactly what it says on the tin, although you can't personalise it at all. Active desktop is great, and also "unlocks" some of the feature not accessible in the easy mode. Personalisation is available although getting icons to stay on the desktop is a pain. LInux is the best operating system EVER. So quick, smooth and easy to find your way around. So light and portable it never leaves my side, and I've never had a problem connecting to wifi no matter where I am. Over all it's the best money I've ever spent!

Battery life could be a little longer, but then I do use it excessively. Active desktop set up could also be easier although I found all the info I needed on the Asus forums etc.

When you first fire it up it looks more like a toy - but that can be changed to resemble a more adult looking machine. Lots of the functions appear to be aimed at children, with novelty graphics and simple games.

Good price, small, light and very portable. As the OS on my EeePC is linux this allows access to a huge range of free software the Linux OS is also very compact. This PC will do anything that I want a full sized system to do, the built in WiFi, USB etc allow me to connect to systems and networks wherever I am.

Needs a zoomable browser as standard (I now use opera) as a standard web page is too large for the screen. The small key board can be an issue although its a small price to pay for the convenience of a compact system.

Good range of software installed and easy to use, I'm quite happy to live without Microsoft. I can easily transfer files to and from my PC using my pen drive - the word processor and spreadsheet programme are compatible with Word and Excel. It's small enough to put in my handbag and I find it's really useful as I'm studying as well as working full time and I can carry it around with me with ease and work on assignments when I have any spare time.

Battery life could be better

Small and light, looks great, linux OS removes traditional windows problems, easy to unlock advanced desktop

Battery shortage at time of purchase means capacity is a bit smaller than older eeepc 4g's, but has had very little impact on overall battery life

Light and portable. OpenOffice spreadsheet, word processing and Firefox web browser software provided easily as good as expensive Microsoft product you would usually pay extra for. Easy wi-fi connectivity. Webcam included. Linux operating system simple to use as long as you are happy with a limited number of programs that are compatible. Very good user forum to help get started. While onboard memory is limited, portable storage devices can be substituted.

Screen a little too small. Keyboard can be a little awkward to use; not as easy to type quickly as with full size one. Processor too slow if you want to do much more than usual office tasks, such as video. Linu operating system is awkward for adding new software: list of programs limited and user needs familiarity with the OS to feel confident in adding new software. Not enough onboard memory.

Very compact and light. Display is small but very clear and very bright. It has a real quality feel that belies it's price. It met all expectations.

Display size may not suit everyone. Mousepad works as well as that on any larger laptop, but its small size can be frustrating. Small keyboard will not suit people with large fingers!
