Hitachi AXM136I Micro Hi fi System Reviews: DAB with CD Player, iPod and MP3 Player Docking

- aerial for dab radio needs to be better

- Aerial is very poor. Reception was much better on the previous model using a solid metal aerial.. You can cleary hear the cd rotating.

+ Great looking. Speakers look small but the sound from them is VERY BIG. Easy to set up. A great micro Hi Fi system.

mirco system.

- This mirco system does not come with a very good aerial,I had to purchase a ditgal indoor aerial, so I can pick up the DAB radio station, recommend you purchase additional aerial for this system.

+ Great bass and sound quality. Easy to connect to tv, pc & xbox360. Nice and small.

- When you turn it off at the plug then on it always starts on DAB radio - keeps your last selection when on stand-by though.

+ you can put mp3 tracks onto a flash drive and plug it into the usb port to play songs without always having to plug your ipod in.
The two parts of the hi-fi seperate so you can put them side by side and fit into a vidio slot in your tv stand.
You can plug your tv into the back and use the speakers to play your movies though.
The sound is good, you can veg out and use the remote so you never have to move?

- the clock can not stay on when you are playing the radio or iod/usb.
if you want the clock on when in standby, to turn it of and go back to eco mode, you have to turn the whole thing on then off again.

+ I bought this product for my partner for a birthday present - he lives in a very small cottage and is totally besotted with this magnificent hi-fi. The sound quality is amazing!

+ I have been really pleased with my Hitachi AXM136I its small and compact but sounds great, love that I can put music onto a memory stick and play from it and I can put my ipod in the ipod dock and play that great item.

- Would be better if it would stay in clock mode when turning on again as blue light on CD player is annoying in bedroom. Tricky to find track titles on DAB when function available. Would be nice if the dispay featured names of tracks in Ipod mode. I pod mode has limited functionality for a system with a dock. More fine tuning of bass would be good.

+ Like the sound and the design of it.

- Only thing is that when using the USB Stick it does not display the artist or album name and will only go to 100 on the display so if you have 170 albums on one like me its not easy to find the one you wish to listen to. But other than that I like it a lot.

+ Design, sound, price and if it had AM and more DAB I would recommend.

- No AM radio, can only get 1 DAB station! When I ask for it to automatically locate FM stations it routinely misses out Radio 4 but I can manually tune to Radio 4 and it works OK, so why miss it on auto. The lack of AM is a blow as I wanted to listen to sport. I didn't even think to ask when I bought it as it never entered my mind. Not tried CD or mp3 yet so don't now if the noisy tick it is supposed to have is audible on my unit.

+ Fantastic sound from such small speakers, love the iPod docker, very easy to use.

- Only gripe is that it comes in two parts that are stacked on top of each other, makes transporting the system around somewhat awkward! Would also be good if the RC could control the iPod too....

- DAB is disappointing, as is the FM RADIO

+ Its nice and compact, not 2 big! And the design is v modern.The technology is quit gud u can use it with your computer or laptop with USB cable. and u can connect your ipod as well. There is a loudness button on the re mode control so have sound quality. And u can also control the bass. Over all its a gud buy.

- My only criticism is it was a little bit on the expenisve side.

- Sound quality is not good for a 100 watt device. The ergonomics of the controls are poor. Th digital radio display is annoying as it is only able to show "BBC Radio" and you have to wait for a screen refresh before you see if you have selected 1,2,3 or 4. Therefore you do not know what you have tuned to. Instructions imply that elecronics will permanently die if the connecting cable is not contacting. In 2009 it is unacceptable to have this type of product failure mode. I am not at all impressed. The 10 year old music centre that it replaced seemed much more advanced and user friendly.

+ THE SYSTEM IS VERY COMPACT, NOT LIKE OTHER SYSTEMS WITH LOADS OF SPAGHETTI STICKING OUT THE BACK. WE HAVE OURS IN THE KITCHEN AND IT FITS WELL ON THE WORKTOP, SPEAKERS ARE A SENSIBLE SIZE.

- IT WAS A REAL PAIN TRYING TO SET UP THE DIGITAL RADIO PROGRAMMING, BUT MY PARTNER SORTED IT OUT, BLESS HER! WHEN I SAID HOW DID YOU DO THAT? SHE SAID DONT KNOW JUST DID, SO STILL A BIT OF A MYSTERY. FOR ALL MODERN DESIGNERS, WE WANT SWITCHES FOR ON AND OFF THAT SAY SO, AND DIALS FOR TUNING SO YOU CAN SEE WHAT IS GOING ON INSTEAD OF THIS SCANNING C - - P THAT DOESNT LET YOU SEE WAHT IS HAPPENING, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU DONT KNOW THAT THE SIGNAL IS WEAK!

+ classy and powerful unit. lots of functions and very easy to set up and use. some people don't rate the DAB aerial but i live in an area with poor reception and it's fine. very pleased. buy it online at dixons - around £80 cheaper than in-store at currys! bargain!
