Panasonic NN-K545WF

+ I previously had a Panasonic microwave which eventually gave up the ghost after nearly 10 years and have found the make very reliable. That is one of the reasons why I decided to stick with Panasonic. I liked the size of the product because it can accept some of my larger serving dishes without the edges being constantly knocked as the turntable rotates. It is very easy to use, clean and sturdy and my 2 children aged 7 and 9 use it with ease to make the occasional hot chocolate!

- This is not really a bad point but if I had the choice, I would have preferred the front glass to be clear as opposed to black but this is very much a personal point. It would have been helpful if the wire flex was say two or three inches longer to give more choice for me to house the product in the kitchen, near a power point with the flex not being taught.

+ this product was bought on recommendation from Which magazine, and they were right i am so pleased i took up on their Best Buys advice.

+ very good performance and good value for money, without a grill which i did not want, it was very difficult finding a "normal" microwave but this one is excellent.

+ It cooks and reheats very efficiently, and is easy to use.

- There seems to be quite a build up of condensation inside it.

+ Huge interior for what seems like a small exterior...easy to clean...fairly simple to use touch pad controls...fan control keeps interior nice and dry... digital display and audible beeps let you know what's happening throughout the program set :-)

- Nothing major really...other than it's perhaps a little lighter than my previous model (which was a combi oven) and can move slightly on the work surface when getting things in and out (nothing a little blu-tac can't solve!) Oh - and also the clock display has the digits very close together so can be a little difficult to read at a distance.

+ Good size - can fit large dishes in. Looks good, like the all-white interior (compared with the stainless steel interior of the earlier version.) Bought this one because my earlier one, with which I'd been so pleased, had broken (family error, not the fault of the microwave!) and I wanted an exact replacement.

- Having to press the start button several times to get the right setting is slightly irritating, (compared with the earlier version which had separate buttons for High, Low etc.) However, I've now got used to it.

+ Auto cook excellent but I wish it would calculate a larger chicken i.e. 2kg. Good to find a white microwave with auto cook although these features weren't offered in a larger model without an oven.

- You have to pull the handle rather hard to open the microwave which often makes it pull forward.

- The cardboard cover on the Magnetron inside the microwave. I don't think this is very hygienic, and the instructions make no mention of this cardboard being there, nor indeed how to clean it!!

+ Impressed, hope it lasts as long as my 1992 Panasonic. Very good cooking ability, food is hot and moist, doesn't dry up food.

- Wish it was 850w as a lot quick heat-up (naughty) meals only show 750 or 850 w instructions, but no big deal. Door feels a bit cheap, but who cares, it's just a microwave.

- Power rating is higher than our old model but it slower at heating up food than the old one. Not that straight forward to use

- Player not easy to use and not flexible either. Instructions written by experts for experts. Print too small and set up too complicated. Explanations of what does what too lengthy. Ordinary users have to wade through superflous explanations to find out how to install and use. It is only after this that full explanations of the features are needed.

- The defrost doesn't use a time. You tell it weight which takes a bit of getting used to

+ Very easy to use. Good size. Better control when using at low power as the microwaves do not pulse from full on to full off.

- Difficult to see display panel if not at eye level. Pads for setting cooking time too small, especially since they are used most. Slightly annoying the fan continues after the cook time - if you miss the beeps you think the food is still cooking.

- didn't heat up the food, had a proline micorwave which was 900W and 30 sec at max it would heat the food just right. This takes double the time.

+ Excellent, large interior in a fairly compact case. Good looking. Easy to use for simple jobs. It has more features than I will use, but you never know! Even re-heating.

- I was in the habit of leaving the microwave oven door ajar after use so that the interior could cool down. In this model, the fan continues to operate and presumably fulfills that function. Howver, I still tend to leave the door ajar, and the light stays on, which is not a good idea, and I am having trouble remembering to close the door.

- In order to read the display easily your eyes have to be on the same level. Hence having the oven lower than you makes it difficult to read.

- Due to its smaller external size IE hight is much lower meaning you have to bend down to see how the food is getting on

+ Have used other models, this one is easy to use, had one before, would have lasted more than 9 years if mychildren had not damaged it. Good size for a large family.

- At the end of the cooking/heating cycle (indicated by rings) it continues to make noise, this is a bit confusing, but used to it now.

+ All the bells and whistles that you'd expect from Panasonic. The best thing ever, is the fan. Cooking rice, vegatables and all things that make a lot of steam is not a chore any more. You can just remove your food and not worry about a soaking wet interior, definitaly a plus in my books. Auto cook is also a great help, no more guess work; enter the weight and it calculates the time to cook and it's perfect every time. I believe you are getting excellent value for money and more.
