Sony CMT-EH10

+ Easy to operate, and good sound quality, as you'd expect from Sony, for little money

- CD lid was a little wonky, but just needed realigning. Probably too simple for the music buff, no adjusting bass, treble etc.

Good value for money

+ Sound performance is fab! The design and bottons are all lad out well and the system is well designed. Very good looking with the wooden speakers and main unit. No distortion even at full volume and even though its only rated at 5 watts RMS per channel its quite loud and would easyly fill any room with superb sound.

- The only thing that annoyes me is the fact that sony are going very eco friendly latly and they wont let you keep the clock on the system when in standby. You have to press the clock botton and it only stays on for about 5 secounds. Apart from that a very good and being sony (reliable) system.

- You can only switch it to standby rather than being able to switch it off completely, even though it has an economical standby of 1 watt - it is nevertheless 1 watt wasted.

+ Has both cassette and CD including MP3. Useful to have remote. Good sound (also from headphone socket)for the price.

- Aerial connection a bit small and "fiddly" - will it last if unit moved frequently? Loop aerial for AM and wire aerial for FM could cause problems for some. How long will CD cover catch last?

+ This is a good compact system producing excellent sound quality.

- The menu options used via the remote are not straightforward and a bit fiddly but the overall performance far outweighs these complaints.

+ Nice, compact design. Easy to use with no overcomplicated features. I bought this as a Christmas present for my aging parents and it fits their needs perfectly. They even set it up themselves, which is either a minor miracle3 or testament to the simplicity of the product.

+ Very good value for money - although sound quality isn't amazing, it's nevertheless very decent for such a cheap unit. Doesn't take up a lot of space. Very user friendly. Has line-out jack which is useful.

- I think the cassette tape is redundant - just takes up space, and I doubt many people use it. Components (buttons etc.) have a somewhat cheap feel and look.

+ its compact design allows it to blend into any decorative pattern and any size room. with the audio input LP's can be played from a turn table easily. very easy to programme and use even with multi room speakers through a switch.
