+ AMazing picture quality, makes even a boring holiday interesting to watch! :D

- Menu can be a little fiddly at time but that could just be me liking to operate quickly via buttons rather than a slightly slower touch screen. WORST POINT: The built in speaker for listening to playback is position among the buttons to the right of the folded out touchscree. The speaker is really quite good and I was rathe rimpressed by the quality, BUT it is a completely directional speaker, and then you hold the camera with the screen in front of your eyes the speaker is not pointing in your direction and therefore you cannot hear the audio. Therefore great video and audio playback on the camera with a good touchscreen to view on as well as the speaker, but they are mutually exclusive! Verry happy with my camera, I paid £835delivered from the first website it was available from in the UK. Little expensive as a first adopter but I wanted it for my holiday the week after

+ High quality stills either extracted from video footage or as a stand alone digital still camera, so there is no need to carry two cameras. Ability to transfer footage from hard disc to memory stick.

- Can't change the battery while using a tripod. No memory stick supplied with the camcorder.

+ Neat and compact design, with excellent picture and sound quality and easy menu system.

- No sholder strap provided, Sony says this is optional in the manual, but donot sell one as an accessory. Touch screen marks easly with finger marks, better with optional screen protector sold as an accessory, but exspensive for what they are. Should be supplied with camera.

+ Very crisp video quality even on standard recording mode & with huge hard drive disk.

- You'll need a back up battery as it only runs approximately 110 minutes even with the LCD off with the supplied NP-FH70.

Geoff, Swindon, “A veteran photographer. ”

+ The camcorder does everything one could expect and more. Perhaps the best piece of photographic kit ever made. It takes videos in extremely poor lighting conditions in colour and in green in the dark with the help of its infra red source. 10 megapixel stills are superb. The quality of HD videoss when viewed on a high definition TV screen is perfect. There is a huge hard drive, but it will also use 8 gig memory sticks. The SR12E has a remote control.

- Just one tiny fault. When using the red button on the camera to operate it (as oppsed to using the button on the LCD screen) it is difficult to stop the recording without jerking the camera. A squeeze trigger would have been ideal.

+ HD Quality is amazing

- Editing the movies on a mac is difficult and expensive. I had to buy a whole new Mac Book as rendering the AVCHD files you need a powerful PC or Mac but if you want to just burn home DVD's it's great

Karl, London, “I like simple things”

+ Easy handling and the capability of taking stills when recording. Picture and video quality is very good but that I would expect from a High Def. camcorder anyway. The build-in editing features are handy. And the hard drive - no more tapes!!!

- Apart from cable and cradle no accessories. A small bag could be included in the price and/or a memory stick.

+ really easy to use. Battery charges up pretty quickly. Face detection feature pretty good. Nightshot i sgood also.

- only gripe so far is that battery life isn't the best. probably need to buy an extra battery so you don't lose power half way through the birthday party, christening etc
