Clare, Oxted, Surrey
Excellent GPS - no issues with losing the signal. Clear mapping with good voice instructions. In car mount works very well. Integration with mobile phone giving hands free functionality works brilliantly, especially reading of texts. Superb product.
ROI mapping is very inaccurate. Speed limits not particularly accurate.

Joyce, Wedmore.somerset
Better than the Garmin I had previously,in every way.
If one happens to miss a turning,I would like it to point it out,not to leave it for me to find out

Jackie, Durham
Excellent Value for money/speed camera warnings excellent/voice direction excellent/Size just about right/design no problems
Numerous road speed limits need updating - quite a few stated 30 when it was 60/70 so heard the speeding alert most of the time.

Phil, Cavendish Suffolk
Compact & easy to use charge times are good
Roads still wrong despite them being around for a few years now & the bluetooth disconnects the phone for no reason intermittently, also volume of bluetooth & sound quality could be better

Gary, London North
Easy to use is the main thing, reliable product and name. Nice clear screen and clear voice prompts. Space for an extra SD card, (would have been nice if it came with a small one at least). Overall it is a nice peice of kit, the traffic feature is good, i like that! well needed in City centres. especially London.
Manuals dont really explain much, the traffic update sections is very unclear. Need to go online to find out more details on most subjects. Some errors on the maps are still present and some speed cameras where not detected. NO IDEA how to map share/correct? No instructions on how to do this either? Hopeing other people do so i can benefit from the updates! (and i thought i was a bit computer literate)

VERY ACCURATE EASY TO USE NICE DESIGN
VERY EASY TO USE IF YOU HAVE THE POSTCODE BUT GETS COMPLICATED IF YOU HAVE JUST THE ADRESS OR THE NAME OF THE PLACE

Tim, Oakham
Wase of use, clarity of instructions and screen
Thicker and heavier than I expected, not 100% accurate, some local roads missing.

easy to read while driving, clear instructions
Accuracy, keeps on sending us down tracks not roads, keeps on falling off the windscreen

Good intuitive graphics. Easy to use
Not very accurate - in some instances the required exit was passed before the unit told us to turn left

Adfditional features are excellant eg. Bluetooth, traffic, voice commands.

Taks the stress out of driving in unknown areas. Very clear display and voice. Recalculates very quickly if I take a diversion. Volume increases automatically with speed of car.
Has told me to take a right turn a couple of times when it meant left. Doesn't seem to get it wrong the other way round. Likes VERY narrow roads!

Excellent display. Rapid recalculation of route when needed. V good in towns. Clear instructions.
Microphone for 'phone etc in a ridiculous position. Some roundabouts, which have been there for at least 15 years, are not shown. Poor accuracy of road names in rural areas.

Grant, Wallasey Wirral
Accurate, efficient, easy to use. This was an upgrade to a previous Tom Tom sat nav
02 May 2008
Shaun, Coventry
Potentially this could be a fantastic Satnav but tomtom really need to sort out the bug issues
bluetooth handsfree is very poor, audio book feature is only usable if you subscribe to Audiobook.com, FM transmitter is just about useless in London there are no spare channels to lock onto. Since the release of the tomtom 720 it has been riddled with bug issues it seems they released it onto the market before it was fully trialed and tested

Excellent size, graphics are good and the accuracy is spot on
None that i can think of!

Ease of use, icons are clear and simple.
GPS signal sometimes gets confused. Not all roads are mapped with the speed limit and this wasn't really highlighted in the features. A friend has a Mio which has speed limits shown on all roads. Even fairly important A roads around London do not have the speedlimit mapped on it.
30 Jan 2008
Klaus, Woking
Many options : Multimedia, Bluetooth phone , Traffic information and more
Not enough Speech direction, on complicated road junctions no lane indication.
17 Dec 2007

Some mapping about 4 months behind new road layout despite having downloaded all updates

Easy to set up and use with fairly intuitive screens. Routes work well and are pretty accurate. Very quick to find new routes if needed to change from originqal one. Updates very easy to carry out.
Nor sure the Traffic part is worth the extra as it doesn't ever seem to find much and is a pain to keep putting onto screen and taking off (To avoid revealing that TomTom might be in the car) Also not the best of mechanisms for fixing TomTom in place when you want to avoid letting everyone know there might be one in the car. Have bought an additional 3rd party fixing unit which is better and more discrete when not being used.

speed of connecting were you are, re-routing you when you go wrong
map share soesn't always correct the mistakes even though you enter the details correctly battery life if not plugged in

Mike, Chester
Excellent features all round with lighting fast calculation of routes. Its additional features MP3 player etc are also brilliant. LOvely clear instructions using the computer voice.
Real heath robinson cable management. Everything is so well designed in all other respects it looks like they ran out of time when it came to this aspect. Looks realy untidy and it is a real pain connecting up the cables every time you jump in the car. It needs a docking station to simplify affairs.
28 Jan 2008
Andy, Exmouth, Devon
very easy to use
28 Apr 2008
Debbie, Nottinghamshire
I travel over a Thousand miles a week. It is so easy to use and very reliable especially when the roads you normally use have been closed for a diversion, just ask it to calculate an alternative route and your on your way again..There no fuss with out of date road maps etc.
The hands free is not very clear to persons receiving a call from me, which is anoying as this was one of the reasons I purchased this model.
22 Mar 2008

Easy to use, clear visual display and a real aid to driving.
Telephone link is inaccurately described as useable and yet in my experience the microphone system is virtually useless.

Terry, Pembroke, “Retired Heating Engineer”
I read up many reviews, and product information sheets before deciding on the Tom Tom 720. I have found the unit does everything which the manufacturer says it will do and is extremely easy to use. I have purposely taken incorrect roads, but the Tom Tom has put me back on track again in seconds. I also particularly like the built in transmitter to play the instructions and MP3 music over the cars own stereo system. A first class product at a very competitive price. The unit is very good out in the country as well as main roads.
I do believe that as this is a delicate piece of electronic equipment that it should be supplied with a carry case for when out of the vehicle. Also I think a mains charging lead should be supplied as standard.
15 Jun 2008
Gary, Chipping Sodbury, “Coach Driver”
Ease of use
Has no bridge heights or routes for large veichles not like the RAC version
27 Jun 2008
Richard, Kidderminster, “Technology Fan ”
Great design and features. Mapping is excellent and screen size makes it easy to use. Hands free kit works flawlessly although it could be louder. MP3 transmission over FM is very good. If you keep it updated it fins the satellites instantly. Screen mount supplied is surprisingly good. SD card slot accepts HCSD cards.
Battery life is nowhere near the quoted 5 hours. TMC receiver interferes with the FM MP3 transmission and affects the quality. TMC data has rarely been right. SC card slot only recongises and formats to 4GB. However, if you format the card in a suitable reader you can use 8GB cards and the Tomtom will access all of it.

Tony, London
its neat and easy to use
It doesnt know where its going!! it take me on silly detoures which kind of defeats the object of using it.. Also it isnt very accurate with the traffic updates, it always adds an enormous amount of time if there are road works on a motorway even if they are free flowing.
25 Jan 2008

The voice recognition is surprising good - it copes with my Scottish accent no bother.
The only downside is the length of time it took to download the latest map of the internet when you only have a slow connection.

19 Jan 2008
William, Swansea
Nice and slim, and i do like the wide screen also very user friendly.
There only 2 faults 1- the voice recognition program It has got to be very quiet and then it gives you a different location, so i never use it because it quicker to manually punch it in. 2 - when you ask for a location it does not always take quickest route, i have tried different setting`s but i keeps taking me on the same route`s. Overall verdict of the go range - not very impressed. but i did own tomtom700 and i found that unit very good.

Clear directions and maps Map changes (renaming roads etc is good)
voice control searches has not worked well Hands free, it is difficult for the person you have called to hear

Ian, Wigan
Ease of use, customising options, features.
Suction mount poor. Have had to buy 3rd party mount. Internal speaker is badly distorted at audible volume levels. Brightness is too high at night despite having set the night mode to 0% brightness, needs to go dimmer. No way of displaying altitude.

easy to update, good design, very accurate, able to update poi any time, mobile phone connection through tomtom,, picks up signal inside my home. good value for money. would buy another tomtom any time. pin code to stop unathorised use.
volume control not easy to adjust .remote control on side of tomtom would be better.the cost

Good design, some good functions...nice design.
MP3 music is cut off by instructions which is very annoying! And this si even when you set music to come through the radio via FM transmitter and instructions through TomTom. That really bought this great product down...apart from that its good.

Good design, much smaller than previous model (710), easy to use.
Does not come with a case. The MP3 player requires you to go through Tom Tom home package rather than being able to copy straight from the computer onto the SD card

No written comprehensive instruction book which could be kept in car, CD being impractical for this purpose.

Always picks up satellites quickly (unlike the returned model - Garmin Nuvi 250w it was hopeless). Lots of extra features. Safety cameras not so easy to set up as the Garmin though. Instructions very accurate in UK.
Inland areas of Costa del Sol the instructions were quite wrong at times - i.e. telling you to take the 4th exit of a roundabout when there were only 2 exits. This happened more than once. I expect the maps are not quite up to date in Spain? It also took me the scenic hairpin bend route in the dark over a mountain when I could have followed the dual carriageway and motorway!

Very flexible and easy to use on the road, many features like bluetooth for my mobile proved useful on first european trip.

Have not found any
16 Jan 2008
Irene, Hertfordshire
Generally it exceeded my expectaions
I believe its a weakness not to have Auto update of location, and that you have to keep updating that, which is a distraction. Another downside is that you arent able to use bluetooth on multiple devices, for exmaple you are unable to use a bluthooth earpeice at the same time, therefore you are not able to hear directions on the TomTom at the same time as the phone may be in use
12 Nov 2007
Matthew, Stoke-on-trent
more accurate
all the extra features have to be paid for on line and the nearest POI's such as a doctor are all in France

Everything works and it gets you there painlessly and efficiently, even to some pretty obscure places. The Bluetooth phone facility works; the voice-recognition works (surprisingly well); predication of arival times is pretty accurate; if you drive 'off-route' it gets you back on effieciently and without getting grumpy; and so on. The bits that haven't been tried work probably work well, too. Routing by post-codes is soooo . . . simple!
The programming logic's a bit confusing . . . and my grilfriend's nicked it for her new job so you probably have to buy two at once if you're 'in a relationship' (as she tells me I am), which is expensive. You tend not to form a mental map of your route, which could be difficult if it ever conked out.
