+ Very easy to set up journeys and good visual information in use.
- Has taken me off the motorway and a main road unnecessarily, only to rejoin a few yards later.

Rob, Hindhead, Surrey
+ Ease of use, some new features compared to the previous ONE. Updated maps. Smart new interface. Impressive actual speed alongside permitted speed visual display. Satellite reception very quick to obtain. Overall 9/10; almost perfect.
- Map sometimes lacks new roads/junctions. £40 approx to download new maps is too expensive. TomTom traffic service too expensive also.

Mike, Warwick
+ Small, accurate and easy to follow. Instructions are given clearly, well in advance.Excellent value for money.
- Limited battery life. Okay if you have a cigarette lighter socket but my daughter's car doesn't. I have bought a mains charger for use indoors, as charging from the USB port on a PC takes forever.

+ It's just brilliant. There's nochance of you getting lost with it. Brilliant. Colourful. Easy to use. big but not too big. Just overall really good.
- no bad points really. may take some time to carry out GPS reading when it can't find a certain place but overall perfect.

+ Ease of use when driving
- Insturction book doesn't tell you where reset it - had to take it to shop. Otherwise would have to send it back.

+ Probably one of the best satelite navigation units on the market. Recommended by a relative who has tried several others.
- It does occasionally make errors, not in know ing where it is but in getting road numbers wrong.
23 Jan 2007
Spencer, Sutton
+ quite easy to use, once it is setup.
- Setup is quite poor, maps need updating!!

+ Cheap considering they were 400 quid a few years ago
- Doesn't always send you the best way but thats a software issue

- The suction is not as good as expected - although the old design was larger the ability to ensure suction onto the windscreen was better

Adam, Hinckley
+ Even though relatively small the screen is very clear. Spoken directions are easily heard. I update about once a week and TomTom seem to be ensuring that the accuracy of the device is continually enhanced. Windscreen attachment is brilliant in its simplicity.
- Minor point regarding battery use only - I only seem to get around 3 hours before the warning comes on. But since the device can be charged either via the 12v socket or a USB port this is only a minor issue - I suppose it could become more important if either of these options was not available.

+ Excellent value as I got UK and Ireland with traffic version for less than the price of the non-traffic version alone elsewhere. Very easy to use. Also easy to personalise by inserting your own preferences and via the Tomtom site. An excellent entry level sat nav
- Unlike previous versions can't use an SD card so very limited if you were to travel outside UK.

+ Takes away the stress if driving to somewhere unknown when you are alone, and for night times. Also it saves wasting fuel which you do when lost. Makes for safer driving because when not sure where you're going you become distracted and also dangerous driving when frustrated....
- Haven't discovered any yet, tho' heard a few stories when it is't quite as accurate, no personal experience...yet!
21 Nov 2007
Chris, Burton On Trent
+ Very good value for money, excellent size - fits in shirt pocket when not in use. Easy to use and about 99% accurate
- Placing on windscreen holder is difficult. Occasionally falls down by coming unstuck. Would benefit from a permanently screwed holder on the dashboard somewhere - similar to a mobile phone cradle.
01 Jul 2007
Robert, Cleckheaton
+ Very easy to use.Good value for money. No buttons just a touch screen
- Several streets I entered either by name or postcode were not listed.
17 Jun 2007

+ Excellent all round Sat Nav - Recently used it in Ireland as went for a short break,,,would have been lost without it....literally. Will be using it in June for the family holiday to Portugal, so will see how I get on with it there ! Easy to use and set up - Ideal for a novice user, have used other makes of Sat Nav for work etc. but would always recommend TOM TOM.
- None .....up to now !

Sally, Worcester Park, Surrey
+ As someone who doesn't know right from left or north from south the Tom Tom has feerd me to go anywhere. Its easy to get started straight out the box and instructions are clear and timely.
- Not so good at finding the nearest petrol station - took me up a blind alley twice
20 Nov 2007
Raquel, London
+ easy to use
- it gets stuck easily, loses the signal and 8 times out of 10 chooses to take you to your destination in a roundabout way. We tried this using it when we knew where we were going and the route it chose did not make sense at all. overall not happy

Ian, York
+ Works really well in the car and walking. Good screen, battery, size.
- There is no memory slot on TOMTOM3 and the current memory is almost full. This means that when you download another map that is not already included (e.g. Eastern Europe) then you have to delete (and store on your computer) the Western Europe maps first, upload the new map. When you return..do the process in reverse.

Anonymous, “truthful”
+ nice night color, reroutes by itself if you go wrong direction.
- the instructions are not clear enough. I cannot understand if it wants me to take the exit or not. Also, the traffic news function does not work therefore it's definite we always get stuck in traffic.

- Doesn't pick up roadworks even with traffic update. Can't log onto website/home to update. Doesn't save you any time because you spend 3-4hrs fixing the flaws in the product.

+ Hasn't got me lost yet!
- It does not recognise street name easily/at all. You need to have the postcode to pinpoint a destination.
17 Jul 2008
Anonymous, “A Trucker with attitude!!!”
+ Certainly orientates walker/driver. Backup downloads could be much less expensive. I feel that much more business could be done should this be the case.
- The issue of the driver taking concentration off the road is not without essence. The power lead is cumbersome. Solar power??
02 Nov 2008
Lucy, Sherburn-in-elmet
+ It is easy to use and you have peace of mind if you are ever late and need an alternative route.
- Not very easy to store, once you have arrived at your destination. I feel i darn't leave it in car as may get stolen and is too large to carry in pockets or handbag. So if i tend to only take it on long journeys.
19 Nov 2007
Peter, Bradford
+ Over all this is an excellent easy to use product,(do's exactly what it say's on the tin.),very portable, easily understood directions.
- It can take a very long time to pick up a GPS signal.
20 Nov 2007
Pete, West Mids
+ very simple to use
- not fully compliant with all uk roads especialy back roads and lanes in counrty side

+ Most useful tool to navigate around UK
- It only takes house numbers. In the country ( rural areas) houses, farms etc., do not have numbers - hence one cannot narrow down the precise position of a property only a rough location

Glen, Cambridge, “Bargain seeker”
+ Stopped me getting speeding tickets on a long and unfamilar journey!
- Can't think of any!
14 May 2008
Darren, Wigan, “driver uses nav everyday”
+ easy to use, nice design
- has gone wierd on me once so far, stating turn left turn right when there are no roads to turn down. Also has directed me to no entry signs and also has lagged sometimes then you miss turns as it directs you too late, also the suction to the windscreen is not the best, mine has fallen off at least 10 times.
06 Apr 2008
Signum, Chesterfield
+ Handy pocketsized unit. Clear viewing screen and voice instructions clear and precise. Excellent value for money and every new car should have facility for including in dashboard layout. Good battery life although would prefer a little longer than 2 hours without a re-charge when used as a hand-held unit. The roadside Speed Camera warning addition was a welcome bonus and mos useful.
- Screen rather bright at night (unless have misread instructions on changing this) Pity charging cable in-put socket couldn't be made universal with mobile phone charger(s)
15 Jan 2008
Tracey, Newquay
+ We bought the TomTom with a visit to Spain in mind. When we collected our hire car and set off from Madrid it was invaluable. The TomTom took us to the door of our hotels and reminded us to drive correctly (on the wrong side of the road) by following its directions. I don't know how we would have managed without it. Easy to use with the address or the postcode of where you are going and can find its own position so you don't need to know where you are starting from.
- Every now and then, where roads have been recently altered the TomTom can get a bit confused - keep going and it soon reconfigures and recognises where it is again. (This is probably the case with any system).

+ Quite easy to use with little or no previous experience. Good clear instructions which are given at the right moment.
- Some of the selected routes are not the most appropriate - particularly when towing a caravan!

+ It is very accurate and is has a large variety of different points of interest. It allows you to set a colour range which suits you best.
- It beeps when you go over the speed limit!!!

+ Easy to use. Very clear directions in use.
- Even updated, there are a few roundabouts not reckonised
17 Jun 2007

+ Sounds better than expected. The stic on bit is brill.
- When you are getting old like me, the first thing to go, (I believe) is eyesight, the bigger the screen the better.

+ Able to use it right away, a quick read and I was off!
- None so far!
13 Jun 2008

+ Easy to use
- Maps out of date, sends you the wrong way and the long way. It does not always make sense. It sends me all the way around the one way system instead of turning right. The system is more than 2 years old so it should know I can turn right!!!!!
14 May 2008
Mike, Talgarth, Brecon
+ Godd clear route graphics
- You do need some knowledge of the route to avoid being directed through towns rather than round them.
21 May 2008
Maureen, Wickford. Essex, “I am 70”
+ Once the post code is entered it`s easy to enter the address, the map and voice are very clear.
- The route took me into a dead end, also the screen is a bit too sensitive. If you touch it by mistake you lose whatever is on the screen.
17 Jun 2008
Anonymous, “Useless with new technology”
+ Easy instructions for set up and being able to se the product.
- None that I know of at the moment.
27 Jul 2008
Geoff, Manchester
+ It is accurate out on the road and quite easy to use
- It is rather small and I prefer user guides/instructions to be in booklet form rather than on PCs. It would be good if TomTom included some kind of cable-tidy device with the product, so that the wire is not draped accross the dash.

+ compact, easy to store.
- Address finder functionality is limited. Can not always find roads in built up areas. Battery recharge is short , around 1 hour 30 mins. In car charger doesn't fit all cars so check it fit your car before you buy.

Jackie, Bradford, “not good with technology”
+ ease of use. As i am not good with technology i was glad it was easy to use.
- Battery doesnt last long enough. if you touch it by mistake the sound goes off as the screen takes you into preferences and turns off the sound. It has tried to make me turn right where there is no turn right on two occassions. Needs a pointer to work it as anyone with large fingers would struggle to input addressess etc and there is not one included. bought a cd with celebrity voices on and could not install them

+ far superior to previous r.a.c sat nav i bought. Good memory, so easy to use .Exellant product
- suction bracket sometimes falls off windscreen
15 Jun 2008
Angela, Cheshunt
+ Fits nicely into a handbag , very easy to use and to keep up to date by conncecting to a pc.
- Had one experience where it didnt get me to the address I put in and ended up in a retail park , thankfully I was close to the Premiere Inn I was booked to stay in, It maybe the postcode was wrong given by the Premiere Inn guide book I am not sure, another time it refused to speak on the way home as I found a short cut and I think it got the hump cos I didnt want to go home via M25 , good job I new where I was going because the sat nav sure didnt.

+ This is a bit of kit for all drivers (or walkers). Very handy, super and accuratate, its better than my built in one so i wont be selling it.
- Does not hold a long charge! If you only have 1 x 12volt point and the kids want to charge a nintendo, not a chance.

+ Great product easy to use packed with features
- clip that attaches to the windscreen could be better falls of if not moist enough and hard to get of if too moist

- can't upgrade to European maps due to internal memory size. Occasionally inaccurate in journey
