+ Much better in size then the older models of Go. Nice to have a SD card not used for MAPs as these are in the internal memory. This leaves you card for music files or whatever you want to use it for. Built in FM transmitter is great to listen to your MP3 tracks via your car stereo system. Mobile Bluetooth pairing to provide a great hands free kit.
- Could do with having the AUX-output and Traffic Ariel sockets on the side of the device (preferably on the left) as the device can not rest on the dashboard properly when the Ariel or the AUX jack is plugged in.

+ speed of update very important very good on the 920 and all the nice little extras like rds trafic sensor updates your route to avoid trafic jams, built in bluetooth for hands free phone jukebox and audio reader wich can play through car stereo
- none that i have found

+ This product does so much it would be helpful if it had a initial step by step setup program for all capabilities That said the ongoing help menus are good
- Could do with some top notch security measure to deter thieves (Do not put your exact home address as once stolen they know where you live)!

+ Fantastic product - much much better than my old one (Navman S90i). Very easy to use. Traffic is an excellent feature and works really well. Very sturdy and expensive feel compared to other models. Accurate maps, although ability to be able to edit maps for the small errors that do is exist is a huge plus. An all round top product, would definitely recommend
- Shame that the safety cameras alert you even when they are on the opposite side of the road - still better to be safe than sorry!

+ Everything in 1 package - Bluetooth, FM transmitter, speed cameras
- Even with latest map download - major road in Staffordshire missing from maps - even though it has been open for best part of 2 years

+ Really flexible features, easy to read screen, great 3D mapping and surprisingly good voice recognition.
- Manual is clearly written but could be much better structured in terms of hierarchy - it doesn't take 110 pages to explain something for which the user-interface is so intuitive. But it DOES need some form of manual to point out those feature (and roughly how to use them) that otherwise wouldn't get used. 10-20pp (ideally included as a hard copy rather than accessable only by PDF) would suffice, with all the rest as Appendix available online.

+ Quick and easy to set up. Used it for America and there interstates and it worked perfectly. Found point of interest brill for Holidays to find parks, lakes and hotels.
- The speaker vibrates and crackles when it is not connected to the in car charger. Tom Tom speedo is also less than your speedo, so becareful.

+ Nice size screen, maps clear and bright. Nice design and quality feel.Voice instructions clear. Has remote which is useful for adjusting the volume without touching the screen and affecting other settings. Has both Euro & US maps, have used in US and works very well - once it knows its supposed to use a different map! Bluetooth works well, picks up my old nokia instantly - not brilliant for converstion, but then its all in one box. SD socket very useful. Generally reliable & accurate. Very pleased with it.
- Initial setup problem as could not download inclusive items. Volume tricky to adjust via touch screen. Traffic adapter crude, has to be draped across dashboard and so far have found not worth having, No carrycase - considering cost, and that this was the top of the range model when purchased.

+ easy to use and the remote control is excellent , i use it all the time
- the traffic part is useless

+ Gets you there, albeit that you need to be on the lookout the ocassional weird route. Easy computer setup.
- Windscreen holder is poor compared to Garmin. No printed instruction manual-just a quick guide. No low battery meter. Pronunciation of some US and most European place and street names is novel! Some menu options disappear/alter with new software updates.

Lesslie, Ashford, “Enjoys driving.”
+ Great because its got all the necessary maps when we plan to go to Europe, USA & Canada.Mapshare,Tom tom cameras and other extras are great as well.Remote control adds additional benefits to buying it.
- Inserting batteries into my Remote control was a nightmare as the instructions did not help much. The Tom Tom holder tends to fall off mostly due to the weight of the tom tom and poor suctioning.I have to get another holder because of this.Traffic updates were supposed to be free when i purchased it but it does not seem to work. But in all its still a good buy with some reservations.

- Some of the place names are not identified by address when they've been at their present location for 40 years. I refer to private airfields/aerodromes & private addresses in private roads, one being my wifes sister. SPEED WARNINGS are out of date showing cameras that don't and can't be where indicated no bridge or gantry to put them on and the speed warnings shown on the equipment need to be twice the size. Thats about it.

John, Sutton Surrey
+ It is quite accurate, and well presented.
- Camera updates - I have notified Tom Tom since Xmas of a new camera location and to date they have not updated all Tom Tom users. The instructions for using verious options are not very clear The unit its a bit on the heavy side. The accessories are costly

Darren, Plymouth
+ Clear easy to read display. Quick GPS signal lock. Much improved mount over previous model. Speach recognition is very good
- Bluetooth remote takes a few seconds to connect with main unit each time it is used. Outdated maps.
12 Feb 2008
Martin, Sidcup
+ Bluetooth that connects to your phone, very accurate mapping and a lead that sticks to your windscreen to enable you to recieve traffic update which doesn't work too well but very good at saving your TomTom hitting the floor when the window mount fails !
- complicated to use and over priced compared to others that have the same functions, but the main fault i have experianced is the window mount keeps comming unstuck resulting in a very exspensive piece of kit laying in your foot well if your not fast enough to catch it while driving which is a wee bit of a hazard, strongly advise attaching the traffic lead to act mainly as safety chain

+ None at all because of all the hype surrounding this product expectations are high but unfortunately it doesn't deliver the goods.............extremely disappointed!!
- Product over hyped does not do what is says in the adverts!!!

+ Easy to use. Nice features, everything you need in a GPS
- Maps not very up to date

+ Great tool!
- The gyros and accelerometres (EPS) do not seem to add a great amount of accuracy to the positioning in tunnels, when compared to other TomTom GPSs that do not have this feature. Otherwise, it is a very solid GPS.

Walter, Altrincham, “near retiring frequent traveller.”
+ It helps travelling to a particular destination without having to check maps, multimap etc. The bluetooth feature is good however I am still experiencing teething problems from time to time when it falls out with my mobile.
- Sometime gives wrong, or unclear, verbal instructions. The screan is usually correct

+ Pretty Fast to recalculate a new route when the recommended route is not followed. Quick response of screen touch.
- No carrying bag, the device hanged up once when using the mobile via blue tooth and have to power off to reset it.

+ Ease of use, down loads especially map share.
- Battery life average is extremely short if using as hands free with mobile Tom Tom Traffic is very inaccurate especially arrival time - Traffic is not worth the subscription Would be nice if supplied with case especially for this price

+ Looks great, plays music via FM sender etc
- Its core function is badly flawed. Although the maps can be "updated" they are still incorrect for my local area - before and after the update process (which itself takes ages !). There is for example a traffic island etc which don't appear accurately, also to cross the traffic lights it says "turn left and turn right" when going straight ahead (?). This gadget would be even more useless in an unfamiliar area and I suspect could contribute to accidents.

+ simple, clear, conveniet, anybody can use it without a manual. perfect logic. apart from trafick it works a treat...
- trafic reporting no good probably due to UK radio warning system slow to update or software glitch, cant tell.

- a little bit fidderly pluging in the charger and rds traffic reciever plug. Also for price it should have come with a case.

- Difficulty getting accessories, as not many available yet

+ The software is ok.
- The traffic facility is very poor. It spent ages trying to find an appropriate radio signal and often I just gave up with it after it had spent over an hr trying to locate one. And the arial for this is very long and looks rubbish trailed all around your windscreen. I believe that some other devices have an inbuilt arial which would be much better. Then after about 3 uses of the device, the socket for the arial broke and so now it doesn't sense when it is plugged in. Finally, to top it all, when I went to connect the device to my blackberry 880, although it connected fine using bluetooth it does not seem possile to use the blackberry with the TT to set up a wireless connection for TT's advanced features 9wuch as wireless traffic, speed camera updates etc.) All in all, very dissappointing for a device at this cost.
05 Mar 2008
Phil, Wirral
+ easy to use, we particularly like the phone answering and email reading facilities
- local knowledge not very good on occasions the satnav plots a course which is acceptable to the majority of users although locals may be aware of short cuts not identified by the tom tom
15 Apr 2008
Richard, Gloucestershire, “I'm a Gadget Collector”
+ Pricing at the time of buying the product and also the range of useful features.
- It seems as if certain features are free and then you have to pay for some sort of subscription later on, even if you pay for a top of the range product.

Pete, East Midlands, “Senior Citizen”
+ I have used TomTom 700 for last 2 years and this 920 model works just the same - so no learner curve. This unit is so much more responsive and satellite reception is much more sensitive. It is really easy to carry/use out of the car. In case of any queries/problems TomTom support is very good.
- New model 930 introduced week after I bought but on price I would probably have still bought the 920. Also the 'TomTom Home' software didn't work with my new model - that software bug has now been fixed.
03 Jul 2008
Alister, Basingstoke
+ If worked, great
- RDS Traffic arial didn't work, returned for full refund. TomTom design fault on all Traffic TomToms that use the RDS aerial that attaches to the windscreen. Waiting for the new model 930 HD Traffic as they have rectified this problem in these new models by incorporating the traffic aerial into the cirgarette lighter charger.

Eric, Lytham St. Anne's, “Mature, experienced, advanced driver”
+ Nice and compact, easy to read and understand instructions. I like the voice prompts that are repeated nearer to your turn of change of road. Overall appears well made and it does the job well.
- Not to sure about the sucker fastening for the aerial to attached to the windscreen to enable traffic up dates. Some suckers will not remain stuck to the screen. Dash board area seems a bit cluttered with power cable from cig. lighter + aerial connection bits.
29 Jun 2008
Brian, Bromsgrove Worcs, “Mature/ touring France, Spain”
+ Easy to use once familiarity is established. Excellent in unfamiliar towns particularly abroad. When a wrong turn is taken by the driver it is quick to respond with an alternative route.
- Did not always find a small town or village at the input stage. I had to settle for a nearby location. Once there navigation was fine. Complete post codes are better. One can set an itinerary with waypoints and final destination but it will not follow that route unless a second point is selected after the previos one has been reached, preferring its own A to B route.
17 May 2008

+ easy to use and to update.
- The fm transmitter is a good idea but is sometimes awkward to setup.
29 Feb 2008
Radoslaw, Wellingborough, “really experienced sat-nav user”
+ Battery, design, menu options, bluetooth communication quality
- European maps accuracy, voices!, FM transmission quality
11 Jun 2008
L, Portsmouth
+ The tomtom is a great piece of equipment. The maps are mostly accurate, we've only come across a few new junctions not yet added in and with regular updates and map corrections I'm sure they will be soon. The touch screen is easy to use and the choice and presentation of information on the screen when travelling is excellent. There is also security in being able to know exactly where you are (and the nearest service station/hospitals/hotels) in case of breakdown or other mishap. It is also extremely easy to use to plan long routes, find locations and browse the maps.
- The only lost point (on the main device) for me really is that the menu has so many options it can take a little longer than I'd like to find certain options, but you can set it to a 'simplified' menu system which removes a lot of the rarely used items and/or you can add items to a quick access button on the main screen. If using the included traffic warning system the wire attachment to the dashboard/windscreen can be a bit fiddly and annoying, however the traffic updates have been useful causing our route to be re-calculated around any disruption. The lack of an included case (at least in the pack we bought) was disappointing, but there is a nice one available seperately that is relatively cheap.
27 Jun 2008
Martin, Somerset
+ Easy to use, Good sized screen with excellant functionality - the automatic recalculations caused by rds traffic reports has proved really useful
- Disappointed it didn't come with its own protective case - it has to be purchased seperately.
16 Jun 2008
Roger, Shipley
+ Intuitive screen (makes up for lack of a hard-copy manual). Picks up satellites very quickly, even from one continent to another. Route-finding is generally reliable, although common-sense needed as well. Very good all-in one unit, compact size, easily portable, especially with the dedicated semi-hard case (no zip problems to-date!)
- Latest map update process did not work, although TomTom helpline was useful in resolving the issue.
16 Jun 2008
Peter, London, “London Minicab Driver”
+ Much better than a Ato Z.
- You can not sometimes search by street name! Postcode search is sometimes inaccurate. The GPRS response is sometime quite slow
17 Jun 2008
Ahmed, Bolton, “Globe Trotter”
+ A brilliant product if you travel a lot, covers Europe, USA & Canada.
- The TMC does not give you spoken warning of traffic jams.
24 Jun 2008
Anonymous
+ Very easy to use with lots of useful features, automatic map updates are useful.
- Battery life is not great, as preloaded with maps and voices there is not much free space on the hard drive and there seems to be some compatibility issues with SD Cards, max size it will operate with is 1Gb nothing bigger, which makes the juke box feature limited.
24 Jun 2008
Catherine, Scarborough
+ Very clear instructions. Thus far it has been accurate. Easy to use and compact.
- Not cheap.
24 Jun 2008
Tammy, Larkhill
+ The screen is big easy to read and can use just fingers for selection. There are a lot of options. It recalulates very quickly and finds you very quickly on start up. Finds alternate routes very quickly. We are pretty happy with the Tom Tom so far but we have not tried all the options yet.
- It would be good if there was a manual with the unit not just online. Sometimes you have to pay for extra applications if you want to install them. In the application window when you select a download it downloads then, you can not select several at one time and download them at one time. There is not a search function to help you find a destination.

- I have not been able to update road information such as speed limit changes on certain parts of the roads I travel

Jon, Bristol
+ Being able to use the handsfree option through the sat nav, including text and picture messages. Being able to transfer music through the stereo system of your car from the sat nav - can be upgraded to hold an extra 4gb with an sd card
- It should have been designed to be able to recopgnise spoken postcodes as well as addresses

- A litle high on the price.

+ Quality build. Clear display. Excellent maps
- Maps supplied were outdated 1 week after delivery. The position of the on/off switch makes it easy to turn off accidentally.

+ The equipment has a clear display and provides clear accurate instructions. It is easy to set up and programme. The size and weight of the unit makes it easy to carry when not in use. Generally I was very pleased with it.
- I have not discovered any points which I would describe as bad, but as with all sat nav units you should check the route the unit is proposing.

+ maps always up to date maps very accurate and changeable by yourself
- menu's not as simple as could be to navigate
01 Jun 2008
Dave, Connahs Quay, N.wales, “59 yrold retard”
+ gives good directions, but mainly telling you the name of the road your turning into, very, very useful Helped me numerous times even in my home town with directions to streets i aint heard of, and especially some new streets, what i would never have heard of, and which were not in my A - to - Z. It has saved me alot of time delivering parcels in my home area. Being able to use my mobile "hands free". Good clear screen, with plenty of info on it. Tells you your speed, which i believe is more acurate than your speedometer.
- mmmmm a bit awkward to turn on, seems to take it's time, you have to hold the button down for a good while before it starts up. The Phone book is nothing like what you've stored on your phone.
27 May 2008
Anonymous, “multi country driver”
+ TomTom as a system is wonderfull, have used TomTom now for 3+years and it's brought me to places via ways you would not find using a map. It's easy to use, software although not perfect is very self explanatory. Screen is good, bright, good size. It's faster as the older models.
- The clip to attach the TomTom to the window is fiddly. The power connector, a USB mini, is not the easiest in the car to attach (hint, first attach the powercord, then mount it). They should have made a holder that has a build in connector, all you need to do is slide it on and, ..., connected. The traffic receiver whould have been build into the holder, not separate wire and receiver, it makes the dashboard messy.

+ Very quick satelite pick & accuracy
- Not very good battery life

+ Updates perfectly-None of the problems that I had heard about. A well designed Satnav. Best I have used in fact.. Start up time good. Remote control has become an essential requirement now for me when buying a satnav as it makes it so much easier to use.
- Could not get FM transmitter to work reliably..Pairing with phone was not automatic each time. This seemed to depend on which phone you used though as I had no problems with microsoft smart phone. TOMTOM could improve zooming in on motorway junctions .
